Once again thank you to all who responded to my message.

It’s clear that there are still Koels about in many suburbs, including some ko-el calling.

From the responses they are still in Hughes, Fraser, Wanniassa (X2, including a female seen), Turner, Chapman, Kaleen, Kambah (a juvenile seen), Narrabundah (a still pair seen), Cook and Watson.

At least 3, possibly up to 5, fledglings/juveniles have been added, including one still in a RWB nest early in February, only the second observed at that stage this season.

Subject: Any Koels still calling?

I still had brief but clear whoa calls close to home on Sunday and Monday mornings, and a number of members at last night’s COG meeting also said they had still been hearing them, so if you hear (or better still see) any adult Koels from now I would be very pleased if you could let me know.

Also if you have seen/heard any fledglings this season and haven’t reported them to the chat line or direct to me, I would be very grateful if you could provide brief details.  Subject to some clarifications, the current number for this season is about the same as last season.

Many thanks

Jack Holland
