My most recent observation (calling) was 2 weeks ago but just now I happened to look to my left out the window and see a juvenile (Id’ed as such from head colours)
Koel sitting in my big eucalypt. I don’t know how long for but it just flew off as I am typing this. Gave me enough time to get my binoculars from adjoining room. The bird is looking very scruffy but I expect it to be the second one that I had earlier seen.
It now looks normal size, rather than too small. Not calling and no attention from RW at least in that minute I watched.

I still had brief but clear whoa calls close to home on Sunday and Monday mornings, and a number of members at last night’s COG meeting also said they had still been hearing them,
so if you hear (or better still see) any adult Koels from now I would be very pleased if you could let me know.
Also if you have seen/heard any fledglings this season and haven’t reported them to the chat line or direct to me, I would be very grateful if you could provide brief details.
Subject to some clarifications, the current number for this season is about the same as last season.
