We had two fledglings this year – I’m in Chapman near the shops. A male koel called briefly this morning. We have a young shining bronze cuckoo (I’m pretty sure) sitting on our deck while recovering from flying into our window.

I still had brief but clear whoa calls close to home on Sunday and Monday mornings, and a number of members at last night’s COG meeting also said they had still been hearing them, so if you hear (or better still see) any adult Koels from now I would be very pleased if you could let me know.

Also if you have seen/heard any fledglings this season and haven’t reported them to the chat line or direct to me, I would be very grateful if you could provide brief details.  Subject to some clarifications, the current number for this season is about the same as last season.

Many thanks

Jack Holland
