Hello subscribers, I think it useful to provide a brief update of the number of Eastern Koel fledglings that I’m now aware of compared with that given in the just posted on the COG web site February Gang-gang column which was written on Tuesday 30 January.
I now have 44 fledglings on my list. However, 27 of these have been reported by just 4 observers. One feature is that for at least 3 of them they’ve been occurring close together within a relatively small area, with in my case nothing beyond that even
if I check much more widely outside it.
The increase, particularly over the past 2 days, may be signs that the 2nd wave of fledglings from the RWBs’ third brood for the season is happening – so I await with interest further reports (directly to me if you prefer) of any fledglings that you’ve
observed!
Many thanks
Jack Holland
