The Banded Lapwings on the Plain have hatched 2 chicks. I saw them this afternoon and the landholder and I estimated them as about 3 or 4 days old. We were astonished that the birds were
able to nest successfully in a paddock occupied by some frisky Herefords calves and their Mums.
I couldn't get a photo of the chicks but have attached one of an adult.
