As someone who uses bird observation data to compile reports through ACCESS I see one of the great benefits of EBird is the use of standard names and geo-coordinates for reports. It is
VERY difficult to make sense of data when there are - as in the case of the old COG DB - about 30 different "sites" referring to Kellys Swamp/Kelly Swamp/ Kelly's Swamp/ Kelly Swamp Fishwick (sic) etc etc.
From my perspective the eBird reports have clearly described the reed bed where the bird(s) were first seen. The whole area around Jerrabomberra Creek/Kelly's Swamp isn't that big to search.
