Boobook owl at Deakin,

Not to be outdone in the flurry of excitement about Boobook owls, I am duty
bound to report that here in remote Gungahlin sleepless people hear them here
too. The pair in the trees behind my house, between Kangaroo Close and
Ginninderra Creek, seem to call mostly between 2 and 4 am. I wish to affirm
that these two have not adopted the Bird Call Standard guidelines and refuse to
say Boobook. They invariably say Mopoke as these birds did in my youth.
