Hi Phillip

I hope it is indeed perching on one leg (but I didn't see another leg at any time so given the apparent eye injuries I assumed the worst!).

Here are a couple of small inline photos below which might be clearer ... the second one looks like eye damage but I have no idea as birds are not my field of expertise!

PS. I'm not sure whether folks on this list prefer inline photos or links to photos; I've kept the attached two quite small. (the mailing list program is quite whiny and anemic!)

Yes you are right it is a Collared Sparrowhawk and not a Brown Goshawk, perched on one leg (not unusual). The thin toes (especially middle one), the noticeably small beak and non frown face are adequate to ID it. Appears to be overly red coloured. Only one photo shows what could well be a damaged right eye (and that has a precedent) or could maybe just caught with the nictitating membrane over it, i.e. blinking.
 
And yes the parrots are clearly Red-rumped Parrots.
