I don't claim any expertise or authority in this matter, but to me, a bird calling from a prominent perch sounds more like a territorial "display" - the kind of thing that Magpies do all day every day. I would think that to qualify as a "di" it would need to be more a obvious, directed courtship display. I'm not sure what the "correct" answer to the question of what should be recorded as "di", but I would err or the side of caution and only record more obvious courtship "display"s. Duncan.
