Stopped in this morning at the new and quite small constructed wetlands in Hume - the larger of the two new ponds is visible from the Monaro Highway. Google Earth shows another small pond next to that which I didn't visit, but there is another constructed wetland close by, near a roundabout, and the ponds are accessible by taking Tralee St (larger pond is off a street starting with C - can't remember the name and it isn't named on my maps). The reeds are just starting to grow, and the larger of the two already has a couple of Black-fronted dotterel (there's plenty of muddy edges) and a two Little pied cormorants were on the water with a couple of Pacific black ducks. The smaller pond had a group of Wood ducks. Not all maps show these ponds at this stage - the adjacent blocks are for sale for industrial development
