I went out today again to look for the Koel and believed I could pick which tree it was probably in (the middle of a big densely foliaged non native). This was across the road and about 200 metres from my home. A lady came out of the house to ask what I was looking at and I said the Koel. Oh she said "do you mean that bird" and described a male Koel but didn't know the name, so I explained a bit about it. She said "half the neighbourhood were looking at it", one time during the week after it annoyed or amused most of them with its hollering starting at about 5 a.m.
