Neither the beak nor the colouring looks very much like other images showing a juvenile starling - see for example, http://www.feralscan.org.au/starlingscan/gallery.aspx?photodir=38&gallery=big&pic=4 or http://www.agric.wa.gov.au/objtwr/imported_images/starling_juvenile.jpg

I am fairly sure it is a starling, and hence probably not worth enormous investment in rehabilitation

Can’t get the size, Jane, but the bill and colour (if a bit washed out by the flash) would fit a young chough.  If it can fly it should be welcomed back by the attending group.  On the other hand, if it’s not a chough we’ll have them scratching their heads.   g

We have had a fledgling brought in to the RSPCA that apparently fell from its nest in Tidbinbilla – bird can fly quite well – can someone please help to identify for our records

Regards

Jane
