This may be totally correct. I would wish be primarily guided by what help is likely to be the best outcome for the bird and most practical for Lindsay, rather more than what side of the border it is. Then again I am not the unlucky person seeking to do something useful. In the meantime, I wonder if it is able to eat. It is hard to imagine it is an easy bird to maintain.

 

In regard to I dropped an injured Black Falcon to the local vet a few years ago and they promptly euthanized it. Any comment without knowing the nature of the injury would be pointless. They probably did not appreciate that this is a somewhat rare species. I would have asked Penny Olsen for advice. She had maintained many injured raptors for years.

If the bird was found in the ACT,, it should be taken to RSPCA. Wildcare are for wildlife located in NSW.

Sadly the Little Bittern that we saw and reported yesterday has fallen victim to (I suspect) a free running dog.  It is alive but injured and unable to fly.  One of my neighbours found it beside the walking path behind his house a short time ago.  I have the bird in my possession and have rung Wildcare and am waiting for their bird person to call back.  Does anyone have any good ideas on what we should do with it.  My phone number is 6255 8716.
