As president of the field Naturalists’ club and a member of COG I would like to invite people to our next meeting. The subject for the night is the "The Lure of the Lyrebird" from 7.30pmon Thursday Feb 2. The night will highlight the work and research of Tuross residents Don and Gwen McGregor, who has been studying the Superb Lyrebird for the last 5 years in State Forests on the Far South Coast of NSW. The McGregors by use of movie camera, still photography and sound recordings have managed to cover the complete history from nest, egg, chick (feeding of) fledging and male display and mimicry. The presentation includes anecdotal comments (to support or disprove many current theories) and climaxes with excellent footage of the male presenting his full concert.
