Subject: [canberrabirds] Invitation

As president of the field Naturalists’ club and a member of COG I would like to invite people to our next meeting. The subject for the night is  the "The Lure of the Lyrebird" from 7.30pm on Thursday Feb 2. The night will highlight the work and research of Tuross residents Don and Gwen McGregor, who have been studying the Superb Lyrebird for the last 5 years in State Forests on the Far South Coast of NSW. The McGregors, by use of movie camera, still  photography and sound recordings have  managed to cover the complete history from nest, egg, chick (feeding of) fledging and  male display and mimicry. The presentation includes anecdotal comments (to support or disprove many current theories) and climaxes with excellent footage of the male presenting his full concert.
The venue is building 116 - the Gould Wing of the Research School of Biology of the ANU, affectionately known as BoZo (Botany and Zoology) along Daley Road:

The starting time is 1930 hrs.  Everyone Welcome.
