Hello Jenny, since I first heard and reported a koel clearly heard from my
place in NW Chapman, I have only intermittently heard one, just a very short
period of calling from different directions, all of them quite far away.
That is until this morning when one was calling fairly persistently (both koel
and wurra wurra) for over 20 minutes round 6 am from the Chapman shops
direction, possibly to the SE of there based on some brief calling round 6 pm
this afternoon.

Subject: [canberrabirds] More Koel news from Weston
Creek
The Koel which has been calling near my Weston garden since
last week is still around regularly and I often hear it in the morning both
before dawn and into mid morning. Yesterday, I saw the bird calling from a
large cedar tree on the corner of Hindmarsh Drive and Larakia St on the edge of
Waramanga, following a tip off from another chat line member who saw the bird in
a street tree in Larakia St. It might be worth while driving down Larakia
st with your car windows down in the morning, as I did to locate the bird.
I believe a Koel has been calling in Duffy and Chapman in Weston Creek - hard to
know if its the same bird or more than 1.
cheers
Jenny
