I did not visit the wetlands Saturday-Tuesday.  Yesterday they were not in sight early morning (who starts at 0930?  -  the day’s almost over;  anyway it seems early morning is not the best time for these).  However the 2 females were resting behind the log at 2pm (visible from the fence), still there an hour later after foraging briefly.   So far as I know the male has not been sighted since last Thursday.

I spent about an hour at various parts of Kelly's Swamp on Tuesday and did not see the Painted-snipe.  From conversations with others it would seem there were observers on deck from about 9:30 - 13:00 but no Painted-snipe were sighted.  Thus the final sighting might be as reported in http://bioacoustics.cse.unsw.edu.au/archives/html/canberrabirds/2011-10/msg00069.html.
