The birds were seen by one photographer I spoke to about 0930 on Monday morning who had managed to get one photo. I saw what I think could have been one bird crouched beside a tussock but it refused to co-operate with those present.

Subject: [canberrabirds] No more Painted-snipe?
I spent about an hour at various parts of Kelly's Swamp on Tuesday and did not see the Painted-snipe. From conversations with others it would seem there were observers on deck from about 9:30 - 13:00 but no Painted-snipe were sighted. Thus the final sighting might be as reported in http://bioacoustics.cse.unsw.edu.au/archives/html/canberrabirds/2011-10/msg00069.html.
