Batemans Bay. Monday 15/8/11. After 3 days of rain and no birds, it cleared and birds abounded.

BB Park. High St/Beach Rd. {ie In town, The spot with very tall spotted gums, rainforest bushes, and cliffs.}

Lewins honeyeater. A male whipbird was calling and seen. A flock of striated thornbills. Golden whistler, GST.

 

BB Water Gardens

1 Satin bowerbird. 30m from the carpark (Near Museum) in a small lone Grevillea were 2 white cheeked honeyeaters. I finally have seen them after visiting >20 times (after advise from Bob Rusk). Grey butcherbird. An adult white-bellied sea eagle flew over heading towards The Bay. Pair of swans with 4 young cygnets. WF heron. 3 Swallows. 1 Mallard cross duck.  Many chestnut teal and swamphens. Up near the gazebo were a fantailed cuckoo, a brush wattlebird, GST, 1 yellow-tailed black cockatoo. 7 variegated fairy wrens- They were quite close and there was one male in colour. Their calls are noticeably different from Superb Fairy wrens which were down the hill. A Lewins honeyeater and a New Holland honeyeater. 3YFH. 1 white plumed.  Spotted dove. Striated thornbills (4). King, crimson, L corella, SC cockatoo, galahs, R lorikeets. Blackbird, 4 redbrows.
