last Friday at North Ridge Reserve, Cooma, with the BA campout group I observed a small bird on a stony track that I could not readily recognise. By the way it was spreading tailfeathers like a fantail I initially thought of a rufous fantail but the smaller size and lack of forehead colour patch made me eliminate this possibility. On our return to Scottsdale I mentioned this bird to both Sandra and president Chris and we left it in on  an unidentified species basis. At present I am checking with Cooma Council in an attempt to obtain a birdlist for this reserve and plan to provide more info shortly about local knowledge of this bird.
