We were at the coast last week, staying at Narooma. On Tuesday we drove north
through Kianga, Dalmeny and beside Mummuga Lake. We drove to the Water
Treatment Plant, on the south side of Kianga Lake. The lake was full of
debris, and there were at least 100 black swans there and a family, 4, of
white-faced herons. Unusual to see a family group? reminded me of our lovely
family at Campbell Park, a little while ago. There were wood ducks and
chestnut teals, about 20 of each, on the treatment wall.

We crossed the foot bridge at Mummuga. There were two pied oyster catchers (a
threatened species) there, one with a tag on its leg which I reported to Joan
Fearns. On the beach there were three double-banded plovers, from NZ, I think.
We saw a total of nine oyster catchers, while we were at the coast

At the rain forest gully, on the Ringlands walk around Wallaga Lake, we saw a
wonga pigeon and also a brown cuckoo-dove flashed past

I have taken note of the other interesting reports from the coast, and plan to
follow them up at a future date. We saw very few YFHEs, and were told that the
migration at the coast usually does not start until Anzac Day
