Anthony It has taken me a few days to come with a way of addressing your question as to whether the honeyeaters are moving early. I would note, in passing, that on the morning of 14 March while in the upper reaches of our block I thought I heard a flock of honeyeaters scooting through the fog. My short, GBS based, answer to your question is "possibly a tad early but more evidence is needed before suggesting a cold snap is imminent". See http://franmart.blogspot.com/2011/03/migration-of-yellow-faced-honeyeaters.html for some rumination. I would also comment - WRT to Geoffrey's recent comment - that if folk wish to "diarise"such matters around their abodes (or the arrival and departures of Koels, or other aspects of birdlife) completing a GBS Chart is a very simple way of doing so that will add to the information COG has available to address queries about bird related matters!
