A report of a sighting in Sydney from a friend of mine. out of our AOI but maybe still of interest to some...

A landscaper mate called me today from a job in Vaucluse (which for those of you who don't know is one of the most exclusive eastern suburbs of Sydney). Tells me he's found a baby bird on the road which he thinks is a kingfisher and doesn't know what to do with it. He then sent me the pictures below. Stunning.

Not much to say really. Who would have thought this would pop up in a densely populated, manicured suburb of Sydney?

Byt the way, he released it into some nearby heath woodland. Had to laugh when he said it wasn't keen on staying in a tree and kept running along the ground....
