While doing my weekly GBS count this
morning I also came across a pair of YRTB nest building. Also a pair of
Black Swan busy building a nest and last week two families of very young (est.
a week old) Pacific Black Ducks.

late breeding
Saw two pairs of Yellow-rumped Thornbills nest-building this
afternoon – one in the grounds of St Matthews, Page; the other at Hawker
ovals. A third pair at the Pinnacle NR were doing the same last week. A
dependent Red Wattlebird was being fed by a parent, also in the grounds of St
Matthews, while a pair of Sulphur-crested Cockatoos was still feeding one young
in my GBS. This last named family group has been heard around the suburb for
about a month and for the last two years there have been late-breeding cockies
in this area – the same pair, I wonder, whose first nests regularly fail?
