Subject: [canberrabirds] Noisy miners nesting building

On Callum Brae this morning I sat and watched a pair of noisy miners building a nest in the SE corner, about 15 metres up a straggling young eucalypt.  The nest has not yet been lined because you can still see daylight through it when empty.   Although there were two  birds around, I only saw one at the nest at any one time.  Both birds, though were actively engaged in chasing off visiting magpies and currawongs.

Are noisy miners a species whose breeding is governed more by rainfall than by the time of year?
