No doubt better than their own flimsy nest, if they decide to nest in it. Although being big, it may attract predators like currawongs, and pigeons probably have lesser ability to defend a nest than a group of choughs...........

Subject: [canberrabirds] squatters

At O'Connor Ridge yesterday morning, in adjacent trees were 2 chough nests, one unsurprisingly occupied by a chough with attendants close by, and the other occupied by a firmly ensconced and gently "omming" Common Bronzewing.  Has anyone seen or heard of this before?  (Alas, I do not own HANZAB).  I remember the Tawny Frogmouth occupying a chough's nest at Campbell Park a few years ago, but didn't know bronzewings were also squatters.
