Dear all,
I was very surprised to hear on my return from holidays that a Sugar Glider had eaten the Eastern Rosell chicks in one of my nest boxes.  On or about the 16 Oct '09 the Sugar Glider was observed on top of the nest box eating a fluffy chick. The following morning a dead rosella chick was found on the ground under the nest box.  Some photos were taken but I haven't seen them yet.

It's a tough world out there.  None of my reference books on Australian Mammals mentions Sugar Gliders eating any birds or mammels but a search of the web revealed that they will eat baby birds and baby mice.  I thought
they were cute little gliders that lived on nectar, tree sap, a few insects and were prayed on by Powerfull Owls.

Cheers
Peter Ormay
