Several years ago (1988) we had a pair nest on Gossan Hill right on the edge of my GBS site.  The frequency and volume  of calling that went on in the early stages (week of 9 October) made it easy to find the nest and watch the resulting developments.  The young were banded (and left the nest in the week of 18 December) but I don't know if they were ever recaptured.

Hi John,

I've seen a Collared Sparrowhawk three times in the last 10 days just around our house- French St. Hackett.  The first time it was in hot pursuit of I think a Crimson Rosella which looked to be as big if not bigger than it.  The other two times just circling overhead hunting.  Must have a nest nearby but I don't know a) where or b) how big a territory they usually occupy so to what area I should limit my searching given Geoffrey's earlier request for pairs?

Cheers,
