The vast herds of kangaroos that I saw on the March survey at the Majura
Firing range were much reduced for the June survey. There were still a
reasonable number of roos there, nearly all pairs of nervous teenager like
juveniles.
A couple of weeks before Elsa and I drove from Canberra to Marree and back
to look at Lake Eyre. On the way over and back, through Wagga, Hay,
Renmark, Burra, Hawker, Leigh Creek we saw in total 2 Red Kangaroos, 6
Eastern Grey Kangaroos (about three sightings) and about 8 Emus (three
sightings). Almost no road kill.
Where are they all?
Cheers
Paul

Subject: Details of Sunday 5 July COG outing
I went for a walk at Farrer Ridge this afternoon (sunday). Few birds until
I got up near the top of the ridge in the remnant forest where there was a
feeding group with Weebill, Brown Thornbill, White Eared Honeyeater, Grey
Fantail and Scarlet Robin. I have attached a crop of the Robin.
There were huge numbers of kangaroos - anyone who goes for a walk anywhere
other than suburbia in Canberra must surely see that there's too many Grey
Kangaroos?
Thanks Suzanne for suggesting the area. I didn't see heaps of bird, but the
views were great, and got some good photos of the Roos.
