I received a few resposnses to my message, none of which said "Pull the plug." so welcome to the first COG Wednesday Walk for 2009!  The temperature is still forecast to be non-cold.

The best suggestion I received was to start at the Lake end of Dunrossil Drive at 9am.  We'd walk across Warrina Inlet and through the shady part of the bike path to the Weston Park Nursery and back.  There are often some less common birds along here.  If we get back quickly we can browse the tall pines between Dunrossil and the Golf Course.

I suggest everyone brings a full waterbottle.

(Should any 'real birders' come up from Ulladulla they would of course be most welcome to join us, but I am afraid they'll find this a bit soft!)

If a Wednesday Walk is to happen on schedule it should be next week, 21 January.  Consulting the 10 day forecast from weather.com the maximum temperature is given as 32C with 0 POP but no indication of wind strength.  What are people's views: go ahead or wait 'til February?

If we go ahead, what venue?  In November a suggestion of Hall grasslands was made but I wonder about wandering through reptile infested grass in those conditions.  How about Stirling Park or the Pryor Arboretum (Yarramundi Reach)?  Both near the Lake so are likely to be as cool as anywhere and perhaps the Lake water will attract thirsty birds?  Other suggestions??
