The Wonga Pigeon would have to be high on
the list. That continuous call that wakes me when I’m camping makes me
yearn for a large pot and a cooking fire …

vote for the most annoying bird call of the year!
I realise the koel has this one sewn up but if you'd
like to vote in the 'most annoying bird call of the year' awards feel free to
email me and I'll tally the votes.
I haven't had a koel this year so my nomination was
going to be 'baby Galah', however, my local pet shop was selling one and I got
to give it a pat, and I fell in love, so the deafening begging noise has been
forgiven! The Indian Mynas I haven't been able to trap outside my window
however....
Next week I might try to see what bird wins the 'hide
and seek' award for most elusive bird of the Canberra region. The
Spangled Drongo perhaps?
In a completely unrelated question does anyone know what
bird built the nest in the globe inside the National Gallery?
Please tell me an Indian Myna didnt think up that
brilliant aesthetic idea?!
