In my opinion there is no store in Canberra with a good range of high quality binoculars in stock. If you want to compare models before purchase then stores in Sydney or Melbourne offer much better choice. I bought my present pair from Michaels in Melbourne who had an excellent range from which to choose.

It’s also worthwhile finding something out first about the various factors you need to consider when purchasing. There are quite a few useful websites – eg http://www.birds.cornell.edu/Publications/LivingBird/Winter2005/Age_Binos.html.

Being relatively new to Canberra, birding and to this list, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there are any good stores in Canberra that have a good array of binoculars and spotting scopes?

Any assistance would be appreciated.
