Martin,

excellent stuff., many thanks! Once my Ainslie survey is completed I can give numbers of Red Wattlebird and Noisy Friarbird pairs for the suburb (and compare that to 30 years ago). Of note is that  the Cobb Crescent area, where Carol Dow has noted the Koel pair, has certainly a good number of Red Wattlebirds. But depending on how widely the female Koel searches for nests, there are also several Noisy Friarbird nests, including one under construction (as of Sunday), rel. close to Cobb Crsc.

As mentioned in an earlier message, garden development would be the major reason for the increase in Red Wattlebird numbers in comparison to earlier years when gardens at least in the inner North consisted all too often of just lawn, roses and a few other bushes if any, some times a hedge.
