No unusual bird report is required for Blue-bills, though it is always interesting to hear of them in places other than the sewage ponds. But regular COG observation record sheets are always appreciated! And preferably, not just filled out for the special birds but all the bird species recorded. Note the Spangled Drongo remains on the “unusuals” list. Barbara Allan, secretary, COG Rarities Panel

Hello all,

We observed a Little Eagle and a Swamp Harrier over the sewage ponds between 6.00pm and 7.00pm today.  Also observed 5 Blue-billed Ducks on the sewage ponds.

 

I have not heard any mention of Blue-billed Ducks in the ACT recently.  Are they unusual?  Should I be filling out an observation form for them and/or the raptors?
