My daughter has a similar specimen in her collection which she took from a waterside log  at Captains Flat last spring and has labeled "Xanthagrion erythronerum - Red & Blue Damsel". Apparently it's a male because of the blue bands towards the end of the abdomen. Occurs Australia wide except northern half of Cape York peninsula.
