It is not unusual for there to be Noisy Friarbirds around at this time (week 35 of the GBS year).  There has been at least 1 record of this species in this week in 21 of the 26 years which have been processed.  As there have been records in week 27 (starting on 3 July) in 7 of the 26 years some birds overwinter.  By week 38 (starting 18 September) there is at least one record in every year.

Another way of looking at this is through the weekly equivalent of F% (ie the percentage of active sites reporting the species).  For Noisy Friarbird this plateaus somewhat over 60% and the attached image shows this is reached in week 41.

Sunday just gone, heard and then saw a small group of Noisy Friarbirds
(with Red Wattlebirds) in the flowering Ironbarks of the car park of
Magnet Mart in Belconnen (Lathlain St). Is this about the normal time they
arrive?

Also Wood Ducks with 7 ducklings near Blundells Cottage (LBG) and a pair
of Black Swans with 4 cygnets.
