On Tuesday in Lyneham there was a loud bang on a side door in the room I
was having lunch in. When I looked out a Collared Sparrowhawk was sitting
on the ground immediately below with a still live Magpie-lark in a talon.
It looked up at me and flew off to a nearby euc without much effort
although being mobbed now by Magpies and Currawongs. It was great to see a
raptor in action and up close.
It was sort of poignant in that I had just attended a funeral at St Ninians
next door.
