We have a Little Red Flying Fox in care, was caught on a barbed wire fence.  It will be moved to Sydney for long term care with other flying foxes as they are such social beings.

There has been a lot of injured FF this year – mostly electrocuted on the power lines and mostly all died.  All carers in the area are reporting more FFs this year than ever before.

Cheers,

Marg

During the past week, starting from about 7:00pm, flying foxes have been visiting a large Ironbark (I think it is) tree just off Kerrigan Street, Charnwood not far from the Fraser Neighbourhood Oval. The tree appears to be in full flower – red blossoms. At first, numbers appeared fairly small and they'd left by 8:00pm. Went twice to see them but they'd gone by the time I arrived. Numbers seem to be increasing yesterday and today, and they were kicking up a heck of a racket at 7:45pm this evening as they were when my friend looked out at 1:00am Sunday. I assume they are Grey-headed Flying Foxes.
