About noon yesterday we were walking into Callum Brae from Mugga Lane
when we saw about 10YHEs flying rapidly in an easterly direction,
towards Lindsay's place. A friend reported migrating YFHEs flying
over her house in Hughes at 5.30pm yesterday
On Friday we went to Warragandra, hoping to see the migrating birds.
We did not see any, honeyeaters or wattle birds. Well, that is not
quite true. As we were driving towards the corner of Jerrabattgulla
Road and Hart's Road we saw 2 flocks of birds fly rapidly over; but
we were not sure what they were. Maybe we did not stay around long
enough, or maybe the migration through Warragandra is over. Or maybe
it never was. No, the homestead owner reported them flying through
on 2 occasions.
At Gundilion cemetery, which is an interesting place and which is
very close to the entrance to Berlang campground and the Big Hole,
where Con has just been, we saw white eared, white naped, fuscous
feeding young and a solitary yellow faced, honeyeaters; also a grey
shrike thrush, silver eyes, yellow thornbills, red wattle birds, and
a female scarlet robin.
Did Con see any flocks of YFHEs flying across the Braidwood--Cooma Road?
