Honeyeaters

There was a flock of 16 Red Wattlebirds flying north this morning (a bit to the north of Bungendore). Flocks of about fifteen birds, of Yellow-faced Honeyeaters mixed with a few White-naped honeyeaters, were flying north or north north-west in the vicinity of the Burrinjuck road this morning. The exceptions were birds feeding and a flock which took off and flew south - possibly because the car frightened them into it.

The honeyeater migration through Jerrabomberra tapered off last week. Flocks were more variable in size and generally smaller (6-70) and passing less frequently. Composition was predominantly Yellow-faced with about 10% White-naped. I did see one Fuscous and one Eastern Spinebill also. Since Friday there has been virtually none (possibly due to the brisk south-easterly wind) and there has been nothing so far this morning.
