Hi Suzanne -- if money is "no object" then one would go for Leica 8x32 (or
perhaps 10x40), and if you are a member of BOCA or Birds Aust. (the Birding
Shop) then you can get them at members price.
Seems to me that $2500 plus is a lot to pay for binos unless you are a
"twitcher" extraordinaire WHEN -----
through the above outlets at members rates, you can get an excellent pair
of Steiner 8x32 or 10x40 binos for $600+ or $800+.
The Steiners are also available at Digital City (was Fletchers
Fotographics) in Civic. Go in and have a look/feel. Of course they a
dearer through them. Steiners are made in Germany, whereas many others are
made in Japan or China; Germany is the home of top optics.
Leica optics are probably the best around, Swaroski binos are also
excellent but again expensive.
