PRINCE Harry has reportedly been interviewed by police after two rare and legally protected birds were killed on the royal family's Sandringham estate.

The prince and a friend were the only known people shooting on the estate when the two hen harriers were seen shot in flight by a staff member of Natural England, the Government's conservation agency, and two members of the public.

It is understood both men were interviewed in person, and have denied any involvement in the incident which carries a prison sentence of up to six months, or an $11,000 fine.
