This is an interesting sighting and the questions I
ask is where has it come from, where is the nearest group of these
birds?
Hall is at the western end of a large woodland
corridor which runs to Newline, but BTCs have disappeared from most of this -
they are locally extinct at Mulligans Flat and Gooroo reserves,
but there are still small groups in the Majura Field Range and of course at
Newline. Im aware that Brown Treecreepers were recorded by
Geoff Butler and Ian Fraser when undertaking a survey in the stringybark
woodlands of north Gungahlin for the planning authority several years ago
- in the area of the proposed suburb of Jacka I think; this
is some distance away from Hall TSR. As far as I know, BTCs have
never been recorded at the COG woodland sites north of Hall.
cheers
