Prue and I were lucky enough to see a male of this
gorgeous bird at Kellys earlier this afternoon. We found it while scanning the
reedy shore opposite Cygnus hide for crakes. It was about 10 metres to the right
of the fence that comes down to the waters edge. We were able to get
rather better views from the bank next to Bittern hide. Take a scope if you can
- it was a bit too far away to see well with binoculars.
A new bird for me!
cheers
Steve
