Julienne, sorry you missed it as I twice had good views after I spoke to you. 
 
The first was as it flew calling over the Chapman horse paddocks about 0.5 km N of it's usual route, intersecting with the start of (and not end) of Kathner St at about 16:40. 
 
10 minutes later it was flying (also calling) along the SE edge of my GBS site.  This could have been a second bird though the first also could have done a bit of a detour.  In both cases the bird was flying towards the city rather than out to the Cotter as is usual for the evening.  On the second occasion I followed it as far as I could (without binos) as it headed towards the N end of Mt Taylor and flew out of sight over Stirling.

PS From the lack of responses, nobody seems to have seen this bird in the period mid October 2005 to mid June 2007.
