Hi All,

It has been really nice that many COGites have come to visit this bird. More than have sent messages to the list. (so far). I knew it was still here this morning when I could hear it calling, from my bed (as in that is where I was) at 8.00 am. It stayed around all morning. It seems to like to go somewhere else for about 15 minutes then comes back to my place. Very likely there are a few other flowering shrubs or trees in the vicinity, that I am not away of yet. So far I haven't had to wait for more than about 10 minutes on most visits outside the door to relocate it. It is obvious because it calls nearly all the time especially as it arrives and there are very few other honeyeaters about. It likes to perch in full view near the tops of the small deciduous trees.  I have hardly ever known a rare bird to be so easy to find. I was away all afternoon, so don't know what happened then. My last bit of video of it (using the tripod so is steady), is really good, although it mostly just sits and looks around and preens and mostly fills the screen.

The only sad point is that the JW bird will appear in the 2006-07 COG ABR in CBN and mine will need to wait a year for the 2007-08 COG ABR in CBN.

See my earlier message about how to get here. Some of the neighbours were wondering why all the people with binoculars and cameras were here.

Philip
