After reading Philip's message at work
I got on my bicycle and rode to his place - it was only 10 minutes but
was uphill and into a cold headwind. Worth the effort, though, because
within five minutes I located the White-fronted Honeyeater in the Grevillea
rosmarinifolia opposite the front of his house. I had decent
views for about three minutes. This was at 2.25pm. I then ran
to my girlfriend's place to get a camera, and came back a few minutes later
and the bird was still feeding on flowers in the same plant but I was unable
to get a photo before it flew away. Just got a message from Philip
to say that he saw the bird, in the same place, at about 3.20pm when he
arrived back home. All in all it was a very welcome interlude in
my working day so thanks to Philip for the tip off that the bird was still
around.
