Is that the first confirmed record (I am assuming acceptance from
the Rarities Panel here!) of Chestnut-rumped Thornbills in the COG area?
I vaguely recall there may have been a old record from near Mt Ainslie in the 1960s,
or am I imagining things?
I have seen six species of thornbill (incl. Weebill but excluding
the Chestnut-rumped) at Brooks Hill on the Kings Hwy previously. It is a
good site for teaching beginners the differences between the thornbills, as you
are almost guaranteed to get all six there on the same visit. I
can’t think of too many other places like that.
