Good morning everyone

I briefly popped in to the gardens this morning. The Powerful Owl is roosting in the taller paperbark where it was seen on Monday. It’s a little higher up, so you have to look just over the top of the shrub on the edge of the path to see the bird. It was fast asleep. However, it woke briefly when a Satin Bowerbird gave a rattling call nearby.

I couldn’t see any prey items in the bird’s feet this morning. That’s the fourth morning with no leftovers. I think HANZAB says a bird should take two large prey items a week, eating the head one day and the leftovers the next.

Again, best to keep as quiet as possible and stay off the (freshly mulched) garden bed.

Happy viewing

Anthony

Subject: [canberrabirds] location request for Owl

(Having just read all the comments re too many visitors, I do not know if I should still put in this request.)

I should have my first opportunity to go to the ANBG tomorrow afternoon to look at the owl. I am hoping it is still there.   If someone locates it earlier in the day, would they please consider putting it's Wednesday tree location on to this line so I can find it more easily.

Many Thanks   Ruth
