Ian, Louise and Frank will be pleased to know that the PBB did NOT turn up in the extra hour I was there.  I cannot imagine what the extra B stands for, but Frances has suggested that the 'P' stands for "Painted", thus continuing Ian's concept of birds so named being pigments of the imagination.

Other goodish things were two brown goshawks deterring the PBB from appearing and hearing at least 3 skylarks overhead when I stopped to inspect the bike track at Stromlo Forest Park.

In the course of yet another fruitless dawn vigil for Pied BBB this
morning (and the extra B is intended), a SH (apparently adult, day still
not fully light) disturbed from presumed night roost by magpie
vigilantes, then from another, at which point it gave up and fled at
almost ground level in the general direction of Bibaringa. Also a very
new clutch of 12 Wood Ducklings on the little dam at the top of  Kathner St.

cheers
